Two decision were made at the April 29, 2004 Fleet meeting.
The first decision was to grant 1 bye for the season . This was done to encourage people to attend the Sonar New Englands at the Noroton Yacht Club. The New Englands are June 26-27.
There are no conflicts during the 2004 MRA season with other regattas. The
Tappan Zee Challenge is before the MRA season. The Sonar North Americans are
August 26-28, the same weekend as the PHRF New Englands in Marblehead. There
is no one-design racing in Marblehead that weekend. The Sonar Long Island Sound
Championships are in September after the MRA season ends. The MRA SI's explain
bye's in section 20.6. There are rumors of a Sonar Class start at a regatta
in Newport, RI during mid-July. As of this date, that rumor has not been supported
by any information.
The second decision was to accept the Eastern's offer to run a team racing clinic
on June 12. There will not be MRA racing this day.
(webmaster note: this decision was greeted with a cry of "yippee," from our Fleet Captain. Apparently Sam Altreuter really likes Team Racing!)

On June 12, the EYC will run a Team Racing Clinic. Ken Legler, Tuft University
Sailing Team Coach, will be the instructor. The fee of $10 before June 10, and
$20 after June 10, covers only clinic costs. Food, beverage and snacks will
be your expense. Expect the clinic to be a full day from about 9:30am to 6pm.
Check the Team Racing Clinic announcement
for all the details. Team racing is a fun sub-speciality of racing. Several
of Sonar Fleet 14 members think that team racing is the best of fun.

It is the time for SONAR FLEET 14 to sign up for our Marblehead Racing Association Race Committee assignments for 2004 . Contact Sam Altreuter, Fleet Captain or Charlie & Jeannie Garrard. Anyone can take the slot, skipper or crew. As a fleet we need to fill 7 Saturdays with a volunteer.
There is a recommended dress code: white shirt/blouse and tan pants, skirt,
or short. Meals and refreshments are provided but Foul Weather Gear is not.
Most participants have found the day of RC volunteering to be an educational
and enjoyable day.
